RE: New name, same game — introducing Bad Milk Press

Dear Reader,

We would like to announce that the Feminist Union of Charlottesville Creatives (F.U.C.C.) will henceforth be known as Bad Milk Press

This change comes with the realization that our name no longer accurately describes what we do. The Feminist Union of C’ville Creatives began in 2017 as a network of women, non-binary, & genderqueer artists seeking to enhance their lives through creative community. This consisted of occasional social gatherings and an annual exhibition.

The name “F.U.C.C.” implies that we are a union with official membership. There are no members. There are no dues. While many people participate in our programming, it’s literally two of us who run this shit. It’s a union only in the sense that it’s practically a marriage of two people with wild aspirations and unencumbered love for bringing people together in unexpected ways. And we’ve decided that we want to focus on what we do best: publishing this zine.

Since taking over the leadership of F.U.C.C. in June 2020, we have poured all of our efforts into MALA LECHE and related programming / exhibitions with ML in mind. MALA LECHE has been an incredibly effective way to empower and elevate women, non-binary and genderqueer artists & writers from our community. This year, we received a grant from the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF) to focus on supporting the growth of MALA LECHE by paying contributors, guest editors, and workshop instructors.

Thank you for your support and your enthusiasm. You are the reason we have grown so much over the past year and a half. We intend this change to reflect our commitment to MALA LECHE and to all who make it the incredible zine that it is.

Yours sincerely,

Sri Kodakalla & Ramona Martinez

P.S. Give us a minute to get our shit together – you’ll still see F.U.C.C. on things, but Bad Milk Press is on its way. <3
