ARTIST STATEMENT

The paintings from my quarantine series show the ways in which we've managed to stay connected to each other and to nature even in the midst of a pandemic. They also reflect how lucky we are to live in a place where we can still experience nature in quarantine.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Berkeley Hoerr is a 22 year old artist from Charlottesville, Virginia, studying Studio Art at Santa Clara University. She works primarily in oils because she loves the way the paint feels; it allows for both the additive method of building layers of paint and the subtractive method of scratching and scraping paint away. Layers and the handling of paint are both important to her work.
