Bad Milk Press, in partnership with The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia, is excited to announce a two part collaboration: a special-edition zine release and small exhibition in the Little Museum of Art, featuring the work of women, non-binary, and genderqueer creatives from Central Virginia. Limited copies of the zine will be available at The Fralin alongside The Little Museum exhibition for the duration of September 2023. An online version of the zine will be available for reading below and in September, copies will be distributed at select locations in Charlottesville, Crozet, and Staunton while copies last.

Loosely inspired by The Fralin Museum of Art’s Radioactive Inactives exhibition (curated by Hannah Cattarin), this collaboration zine and exhibition invited creatives to explore modern reinterpretations of the word “apocalypse”. While apocalypse has popularly become synonymous with catastrophe, dystopia, and disaster, the word’s Greek origins literally translate as “to un-cover”. When we consider the word as a potential for an unveiling or revealing of what is hidden or perhaps purposefully obfuscated, how do we create space for dis-covery, where things that are hidden can be seen, known, and tendered for purposeful renewal?

The special-edition zine features visual art and writing of 15 creatives: Joumana Altallal (@joualt), Jam Chookaew (@damnitjammit), Jade Dickinson (@jadesketches), Zoe Edgecomb (@zoeedgecomb), Marie Gaglione, Jessi Giannini (@catnessjessijean), Meesha Goldberg (@meeshagoldberg), Taylor Hanigosky (@taylor_hanigosky), Sri Kodakalla (@dystopian_conditionals), Sarah Lawson (@commonplacearts), Cassius Le, Ari Mosqueda (@arimqd), Kori Price (@koripricephotography), Jess Walters (@art_by_jess_walters), and Abigail Wilson (@abilissful).

On view through September 2023, the exhibition at The Little Museum of Art features the visual art of 14 creatives: Joumana Altallal, Kristen Finn (@ksfinn), Jessi Giannini, Meesha Goldberg, Taylor Hanigosky, Blue Jean, Sri Kodakalla, Sarah Lawson, Ramona Martinez (@by_ramona_martinez), Ari Mosqueda, Gaby Perkes (@timecapsuleofgaby), Kori Price, Jess Walters, and Abigail Wilson.
